The International Summer Festival at the Gruberhof again offered an excellent opportunity this year to bring people of different cultures together. The Twinning Committee was there again, presenting itself with its own stand and welcoming numerous visitors.
The various sections of the committee provided special treats with specialities typical of their countries. Guests could strike up conversation over a refreshing Limoncello Spritz from the Italian section, an elegant Kir Royal from the French section or a chocolate cup of Ginja from the Portuguese section. As a sweet complement, the French section also offered madeleines, which were very popular.
The response to the stand was positive throughout. Many visitors took the opportunity to find out about the work of the Twinning Committee, make contacts and have interesting conversations in a relaxed atmosphere. The weather also showed its best side and helped the festival draw numerous guests.
The summer festival was enriched by the diverse performances and culinary specialities of different nations. Music, dance and traditional delicacies from various home countries made cultural diversity tangible and provided a colourful, lively festival programme.
The International Summer Festival once again showed the cosmopolitan outlook of Groß-Umstadt. Here the European and global idea is brought to life, encounters are encouraged and peaceful coexistence across cultural boundaries is lived. Especially today, it is important to send such signals of understanding, respect and friendship.
Numerous visitors took the opportunity to get a taste of other cultures, gain new impressions and spend a few sociable hours together. The summer festival at the Gruberhof was thus once again a successful example of how diversity connects and strengthens community.
